The control of the layout is done with the model railway control by computer MpC from Gahler+Ringstmeier. The entire layout is divided into track sections/blocks, which can be independently supplied with driving voltage. For the journey from block to block routes are defined, the definition includes all associated switches with position, signals and blocks. If a route or points and signals are set, all associated blocks are supplied with the same travel voltage, so that a train can travel from the start block to the destination block. A busy signal is also sent via the blocks so that the positions of the trains can be registered. With this information the program 'MpC' is able to drive the trains through secured routes over the system. For example, passenger trains travel over the Harburg platform tracks and the pillar railway, while freight trains usually use the freight tracks and the main freight station; local trains serve the Elbbrücke and Oberhafen stops, express trains travel here, some commuter trains only travel from Harburg towards Buchholz or Cuxhaven and back.
The program interface of the MpC provides information about switching commands to be executed or executed, position, direction and speed of the trains and much more. This information can be viewed in three places on the system. A connected keyboard can be used to control the following on trains, if necessary.
In order to make the operation of the layout more faithful to the original, signal boxes for controlling all sections of the layout are installed on our signal box in the style of the SpDrS60 signal boxes. The components required for system control were arranged centrally. All plug-in cards for the MpC are housed in 19" racks in two control cabinets, one contains the plug-in cards for blocks,...
the second the plug-in cards for buttons and LEDs.
The power supply for the entire layout is located directly next to the cabinets.
The main distributor is located behind the switch cabinets, from where the cabling to the sub-distributors at the layout is carried out. The sub-distributors are connected to the track sections, points, signals, etc. |
